The 5th International Conference on Nanomanufacturing (nanoMan2016) was held between 15th-17th August 2016 in Macau, and was organized by the International Society of Nanomanufacturing (ISNM) together with the University of Macau, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Tianjin University.
The conference started with the opening ceremony addressed by the chairman, Prof. Fengzhou Fang from Tianjin University. Prof. Fang introduced recent developments in nanomanufacturing and the background of the serial nanoMan conferences.
More than 180 authors and participants from various countries and regions, such as Australia, China, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Sweden, the UK and the USA participated in the conference.
The conference comprised various sessions and activities including keynote speeches, invited presentations, oral and poster papers. The topics involved advanced nanomaterials, micro/nanomachining, laser micro/nano materials processing, micro/nanopatterning and surface modification, micro/nanoforming, process monitoring and quality control, modelling and simulation at the micro/nanoscale, nano characterization and tools, nano/microsystems, high precision mechatronics, micro/nano-electromechanical systems, manufacturing systems and machine tools, optical machining and measurement, and other technology associated with micro/nano manufacturing.
The nanoMan series conference was initiated in 2008 and organized by the International Society of Nanomanufacturing (ISNM). It aims at providing a platform for promoting the development of nanomanfacturing fundamentals and applications. The serial conferences have been held in Singapore (nanoMan2008), Tianjin (nanoMan2010), Tokyo (nanoMan2012), Bremen (nanoMan2014) and Macau (nanoMan2016). It attracts researchers and scholars in the nanomanufacturing field from all over the world to participate and has now become one of the international leading forums in manufacturing, and the only global international conference in nanomanufacturing. The next conference, nanoMan2018 will be held in London.
